Sitar Player Debashish Sanyal

He was born as the youngest child of Manindranath Sanyal(student of Late Kanthe maharaj who is great master of Varanasi's gharana)'s family in 28,May,1968.
And became to student of Dr.Ram Das Chakravarty who is Senia Gharana's sitar player, began to play when he was 4 years old. And learned the base of sitar play. Now, he is expressed as best player in sacred ground Varanasi passing a lot of original study and training, also doing still now.

Especially at first, beautiful, sweet Meend. His intricate and delicate Meend is able to touch listener's heart and tempts to deep mood of sitar.
Next, he applys rhythm theory which is inherited from his father as tabla player to sitar, so expressed as intricate Layakari. It means one of solo part like rhythm magic.

Melodious composition, delicate in exciting style, These are established as his original style.

He is working in Europe, South America, Japan, and of course in India.

My impression about his play as one listener of Indian classical music is that he has great Alap at first. It must be very rare to see such sitar player who is able to play intricate Meend freely and express the deep feeling. It must be top level in India.

In Gat, rhythm is jolly. He uses a lot of Layakari, and tricky Tihai comes again and again. Great Meend is fine even to here. It's also rare to see who uses so many Meend in Tan of Gat. So yes, all his students are working hard for getting its Meend...

I felt before he followed faster speed too, but recently I feel he seems to follow beauty, clear sound and deeper feeling more than speed. but yes, speed is also enough...
